Participants in this session will learn what’s new in the national healthcare environment and how that informs creation of our Enterprise Quality plan for 2020. Participants will brainstorm quality priorities and strategies.

Practical Application of Common Quality Improvement Tools, ECHI Conference Room
Presenters: Tim Reeder, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, John Kohler, MD, MBA, Vice Chair for Quality, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, and Amy Campbell, PhD (c), MSN, RN, LSBB, Quality Nurse Specialist III

After a short didactic session describing commonly used quality improvement tools, participants will practice the application of these tools in a facilitated, small-group, case-based activity. The participants will use a real-life scenario to analyze and develop a process improvement plan. Some of the tools to be used may include a fishbone diagram, process map, selection of data measures, global and aim statement, and creation of a PDSA cycle. Participants will report out and discuss their recommendations with the entire group.
