The symposium is a showcase of initiatives happening throughout East Carolina University’s Health Sciences Campus and Vidant Health Greenville Campus related to quality improvement, patient safety, population health, and interprofessional practice. The goal of the symposium is to provide faculty, residents, fellows, students, staff and community physicians the opportunity to present their work in systems improvement and practice redesign to an audience of peers and health system leaders.


Symposium Objectives

At the end of this symposium, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the quality improvement process as illustrated through inpatient, acute care, ambulatory practice and interprofessional improvement projects.
  2. Describe how the quality improvement process can impact clinical care and system’s based practice.

Keynote Speaker

David Jaimovich, MD – Founder and President of Quality Resources International

Dr. Jaimovich is the Founder and President of QRI, an international healthcare consultancy working with healthcare systems, government agencies, and global pharmaceutical companies on 4 continents. He is the former Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for International Accreditation Services for Joint Commission Resources (JCR) and Joint Commission International (JCI). Dr. Jaimovich is a “hands on” physician executive with over 30 years of experience, a career long commitment to patient centered care and a passion for physician engagement in patient safety and quality improvement. Dr. Jaimovich attended medical school at University Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School in Guadalajara, Mexico.  He completed his residency training in Pediatrics at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, a fellowship at Northwestern University in Pediatrics-Division of Critical Care, and a fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in the Department of Anesthesia-Division of Critical Care.
