2016 Quality Improvement Symposium

The symposium is a showcase of initiatives happening throughout our campus and health system related to quality improvement, patient safety, population health, and interprofessional practice. The goal of the symposium is to provide faculty, residents, fellows, students, and staff health system leaders.
Symposium Objectives
- Explain the quality improvement process as illustrated through inpatient, acute care, ambulatory practice and interprofessional improvement projects.
- Describe how the quality improvement process can impact clinical care and system’s based practice.

Keynote Speaker
Jennifer Hepps, MD, FAAP, MAJ, USA, MC-Assistant Director for USU Pediatric Clerkship, Associate Program Director for NCC Pediatrics Residency, General Pediatrician at Walter Reed-Bethesda, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Uniformed Services University
Jennifer H. Hepps, MD is a graduate of Harvard University, attended the University of Pennsylvania Medical School after completing the Harris Fellowship in Child Development at Yale University. She completed her pediatric residency training, as well as chief residency, at the National Capital Consortium at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, where she currently practices as a general pediatrician and serves as an Assistant Program Director for the pediatric residency program. Dr. Hepps is also an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the Co-Director of the Navy Case Review Committee on Child Abuse, and the Director of Resident Continuity Clinics. As a Co-Principal Investigator of the I-PASS Study at the National Capital Consortium, Dr. Hepps contributed to curriculum development, using her experience as a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer to help develop the team-training and simulation components. Dr. Hepps was recognized for her achievements in military medicine with the US Army Commendation Medal in 2010 and 2011.
