Student Healthcare Options

The Office of Student Affairs gets many questions about illness and where to go. Here are some low/no cost options of high quality:

Counseling/Therapy Services

ECU Counseling Center

  • Free, confidential mental health and well-being support is available 24/7 for ECU students. Urgent Support Hours: Monday–Friday 11am–4pm or after-hours by calling 252-328-6661. https://counselingcenter.ecu.edu/
  • To make a new appointment: call 252-328-6661 (8am–5pm Monday-Friday) – identify yourself as a Brody medical student to be scheduled in the Health Science Student Center. If you are in crisis, you may walk-in at the main campus office, 137 Umstead Hall, Monday-Friday 11am–4pm, or call after hours.

    ECU Family Medicine Behavioral Medicine

    • Cost: varies by provider – there are free options (PhD students in Clinical Health Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy) – the initial visit with a Family Medicine provider will be billed to your insurance carrier
    • Location: 101 Heart Drive, Greenville, NC
    • To make a new appointment: call the Rapid Access Clinic line 252-744-0555 and identify yourself as a Brody medical student to get a same-day or same-week (whatever is convenient for you) appointment with an available Family Medicine provider – this provider can make the Behavioral Medicine referral/appointment

    ECU Psychological Assessment and Specialty Services Clinic (ECU PASS)

    Provides Psycho-Educational Evaluations (LD/ADD/ADHD)

    • Cost: varies by service provided (anticipate around $500), but GREATLY discounted testing when compared to private agencies
    • Location: 311 Rawl Building, ECU Main Campus
    • To make a new appointment: call 252-737-4180

    Psychiatry/Medication Management Services

    ECU Psychiatry Outpatient Center

    • Cost: none – must identify yourself as a Brody student to have your cost waived
    • Location: 905 Johns Hopkins Drive, Greenville
    • To make a new appointment: call 252-744-1406 (identify yourself as a Brody medical student)

    General/Physical Health Issues

    ECU Student Health

      • Cost: none for the visits (included in your student fees) – labs/other items may be billed to insurance
      • Locations (2): main campus between Flanagan Building/Joyner East and second floor of the Health Science Student Center
      • To make a new appointment: call 252-328-6841 (choose option 1) or schedule through myPIRATEchart
      • Website – includes 24-hour nurseline and link to selfcare guides

    ECU Family Medicine

    • Cost: your insurance will be filed – check with your insurance company about your coverage
    • Location: 101 Heart Drive, Greenville
    • To make a new appointment: if urgent, call the Rapid Access Clinic line at 252-744-0555 and identify yourself as a Brody medical student to get a same-day or same-week appointment. To schedule routine, non-urgent care, call 252-744-4611 and identify yourself as a medical student needing to establish care
