Career & Specialty Advising
The Career Advising Program at BSOM is coordinated through the Office of Student Affairs to provide comprehensive, longitudinal guidance to support students throughout their medical education and transition to residency training. Beginning in the pre-clinical years, students are encouraged to explore their interests, values, and career goals through self-assessment, specialty exposure, and individualized advising. As students progress into the clinical years, career advising focuses on informed specialty selection, professional development, and preparation for the residency application process. Through partnerships with Learning Community House Deans and Faculty advisors, students receive personalized guidance on career planning, residency competitiveness, application strategies, interviews, and Match preparation. The program is designed to help every student make well-informed career decisions, achieve their professional goals, and successfully transition to graduate medical education.
