BECOME A PRECEPTOR
Community preceptors are a vital part of the clinical education and training of medical students. Preceptorships provide students with real-world clinical experience and an important insight into providing medical care in a community-based practice. This unique community/academic partnership is integral to Brody School of Medicine’s mission to increase the supply of primary care physicians serving the state, to improve the health and well-being of our region, and to train physicians who will meet the health care needs of the state.
Preceptor Requirements
- Practicing physician with an active, unrestricted medical license (MD/DO)
- Board certified, or board eligible, in area of practice
- Physical practice in the state of North Carolina
Preceptor Responsibilities
- Provide a “hands-on” clinical experience for a medical student
- Provide verbal feedback to the student regarding their patient care and communication skills, medical knowledge base, systems-based practice, practice-based learning, overall performance, and professionalism
- Provide a timely evaluation of the student’s performance utilizing Brody School of Medicine’s learning management system
