Student Healthcare Options

The Office of Student Affairs gets many questions about illness and where to go. Here are some low/no cost options of high quality:

Counseling/Therapy Services

ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development

  • BSOM Embedded Counselors – Call 252-328-6661 to schedule a confidential intake with the embedded counselors at Brody or access your Student Health Services myPIRATEchart to schedule online for an intake appointment; no charge for services (covered by tuition and fees); mental health and well-being support; virtual or in-person appointments
  • ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development in Umstead Hall – Call 252-328-6661 to schedule with the main campus counseling center staff for mental health services; services are confidential and covered by tuition and fees; virtual and in-person appointments https://counselingcenter.ecu.edu/
  • Crisis Services – If you are in crisis, you may visit the main campus office in person at 137 Umstead Hall, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, or call 252-328-6661 at any time to access crisis support via phone (Select Option 2 if calling after hours). https://counselingcenter.ecu.edu/crisis/

ECU Psychology Clinic (formerly ECU PASS)

Provides Psycho-Educational Evaluations (LD/ADD/ADHD)

  • Cost: varies by service provided (anticipate around $500), but GREATLY discounted testing when compared to private agencies
  • Location: 200 East 1st Street

Psychiatry/Medication Management Services

ECU Psychiatry Outpatient Center

  • Cost: none – must identify yourself as a Brody student to have your cost waived
  • Location: 905 Johns Hopkins Drive, Greenville
  • To make a new appointment: call 252-744-1406 (identify yourself as a Brody medical student)

General/Physical Health Issues

ECU Student Health

    • Cost: none for the visits (included in your student fees) – labs/other items may be billed to insurance
    • Locations (2): main campus between Flanagan Building/Joyner East and second floor of the Health Science Student Center
    • To make a new appointment: call 252-328-6841 (choose option 1) or schedule through myPIRATEchart
    • Website – includes 24-hour nurseline and link to selfcare guides

ECU Family Medicine

  • Cost: your insurance will be filed – check with your insurance company about your coverage
  • Location: 101 Heart Drive, Greenville
  • To make a new appointment: if urgent, call the Rapid Access Clinic line at 252-744-0555 and identify yourself as a Brody medical student to get a same-day or same-week appointment. To schedule routine, non-urgent care, call 252-744-4611 and identify yourself as a medical student needing to establish care

ECU Internal Medicine

  • Cost: your insurance will be filed – check with your insurance company about your coverage
  • Location: 521 Moye Blvd., Greenville (across the street from Brody)
