Residency Program Paperwork

Dear Graduating Class,

We are excited about your Match and will assist in your planning for residency with a few tips on what may be required. With COVID-19 disrupting typical practices, we recommend that you reach out to your residency programs early and frequently to see if and where their timelines for requirements are flexible.

BLS/ACLS Certification. You may contact melissa@medicaltraining.me, 919-989-5808 (Smithfield), or CPR Consultants, 919-850-9295 (Raleigh), for individual re-certification.  Your current certifications expire in April.  Some years the seniors have arranged to re-certify as a group. If not, you will need to find ways to receive training independently.

Email Account.  Your ECU email account will remain active for 4 months following graduation when it will be converted to an ECU alumni email address.  ITCS will send you an email about two weeks before this happens, so that you can prepare.

Fingerprinting Services. Contact Sergeant Hill with ECU Police, 252.744.2421. He will set up an appointment time for you at his office on the ground floor in the Brody Building, and there is no charge.  Greenville Police will also fingerprint for a fee. This process may be altered due to COVID restrictions; please contact Sgt. Hill or GPD for planning.

Immunizations. Log in at ECU Student Health Services ‘myPIRATEchart’ to print out your record.  Your ability to access your records through this link will deactivate after graduation, so be sure to do it prior to graduation.

Notary Services. Our registrar, Gaye Tennison, is a Notary and is glad to witness your signature when required for official documents.  See your email for updates from Ms. Tennison.

Photos.  We recommend printing your ERAS photo commercially (Target, Walgreens, etc.).  If you can’t find your photo, contact Elizabeth Albright (albrighte@ecu.edu) for an electronic copy.

Step Scores.  Programs typically ask for original reports, which can be obtained by contacting the NBME directly.

Final Transcripts.  Final transcripts showing the ‘date of degree completion’ cannot be sent to residency programs until all grades have been received.  You can help by reviewing your information in Elentra to see if each course grade has been submitted.  If grades are missing, contact the course director/preceptor (whether here or at an away site) and ask them to submit your final grade. If the preceptor has not received a grade request, Lisa Dozier (dozierl@ecu.edu) can resend it to them.  Be sure to finish your online coursework as soon as possible.

Verification forms.  Send your forms to Gaye Tennison (tennisong19@ecu.edu).  She will prepare them ahead of time for release to your program the week following graduation.
