Faculty Recruitment, Retention & Cultural Development

Connect with Greenville

The VCDI developed this program to assist chairs and search committees as they deem appropriate. The service is essentially a social network to facilitate recruitment to departments. If a department is interviewing a candidate and the candidate wishes to know more about or connect with a particular social/religious/ethnic group in the area, we will provide assistance in locating that group. The group could also be related to sports, music, arts, and other cultural activities. We envision this service to be of use especially in second interviews, when individuals are seeking more from the community to help facilitate moving to Greenville. The Vice Chairs are also willing to meet with candidates if needed. Any individual from the Brody community who we recommend to help with a candidate will require appropriate training from human resources, which we will verify. Recruiting Assistance

INSPRE

The INclusion, Support, Professional Development, Retention and Enrichment Program (INSPRE)
The VCDI in collaboration with the BSOM Office of Faculty Development created and implemented the INSPRE program. The purpose of this program is to increase junior faculty retention and to provide opportunities for career development. The program is available to all junior faculty (with the consent of their Department Chairperson) however, a specific effort is made to include faculty belonging to groups that are underrepresented in science. For more information about the INSPRE program please visit the BSOM Office of Faculty Development.

AAMC Mid-Career Minority Development

The BSOM Office of Academic Affairs recognizes the importance of professional development and therefore, has allocated funds to support one URM faculty to attend the AAMC Minority Faculty Career Development Seminar. Please check back in early Spring 2016 on the upcoming opportunity.
