Summer Scholars Research Program
Program Overview
The Summer Scholars Research Program is an intensive, 8-week research experience designed specifically for medical students between their first and second years of medical school. This program offers students the opportunity to engage in hands-on clinical and basic science research under the mentorship of experienced faculty mentors.
Participants will gain valuable insight into the research process—from hypothesis generation and study design to data analysis and scientific communication. The program aims to foster critical thinking, strengthen research skills, and promote academic curiosity that supports evidence-based medical practice.
This program is open to current M1 students and is a prerequisite for those interested in applying to the Research Distinction Track, which is a separate application process that takes place towards the end of the summer.
Application Process for Students
- Students are required to submit an application to SSRP.
- Students must be in good academic standing in order to apply for the program.
- Students will be accepted to the program after successfully matching with a faculty mentor.
