First Responder Training
When emergencies happen, every second counts. That’s why strong medical training for first responders is essential to keeping our community safe. First responders are often the first people on the scene when someone is hurt, scared, or in danger. Their skills can make a life‑changing difference long before anyone reaches a hospital. The Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Center works with first responders throughout eastern North Carolina to prepare them for life-threatening situations they face every day. This training keeps providers up to date on the latest care techniques, builds confidence, and creates a safer community.
Our partners include ECU Health EastCare, Ragged Edge Solutions, the NC State Highway Patrol, and many more.
Our MV-22 Osprey Transport Simulator allows groups to practice in a life-like environment modeled after an MV-22 Osprey which can also be retrofitted to be an EC145. The development of the Osprey Task Trainer was accomplished by a grant from the University of North Carolina System Strategic Initiatives Fund and was constructed by multidisciplinary students from many of ECU’s Colleges and schools. It is envisioned that the Osprey Task Trainer will not only serve to train U.S. Navy Corpsmen and Nurses but also be a platform to research and develop future cutting edge training modalities for the Department of Defense.
